The opportunity

Bloomsbury Publishing is looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised and confident communicator with excellent time management skills and attention to detail to work in our fast-paced Sales Operations Department. This is a fantastic opportunity to join Bloomsbury’s highly successful Sales Operations team.

Reporting to the Senior Sales Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be tasked with managing the Children’s Education list as well as providing support to the wider team. The role will involve working with colleagues across the company, from Editorial and Production, to Sales and Marketing, as well as with external partners. We are looking for someone who has initiative, a natural curiosity, data driven, good at multi-tasking and has a love of spreadsheets to join a highly motivated and dynamic team.

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is a leading independent publishing house, established in 1986, with authors who have won the Nobel, Pulitzer and Booker Prizes, and is the originating publisher and custodian of the Harry Potter series. Bloomsbury has offices in London, New York, New Delhi, Oxford and Sydney.

The role

  •  Direct responsibility for managing the Children’s Education inventory
  •  Provide support to the Sales Operations team
  •  Run daily reporting of e.g. Amazon/Waterstones sales, co-ordination of daily warehouse reports, weekly print fix and invoicing
  •  Manage the import of Bloomsbury US stock into the UK warehouse
  •  Build and maintain a good relationship with warehouse partners
  •  Manage excess inventory and propose decisions on remainders/pulps
  •  Work closely with production to ensure fast turnaround time of reprints
  •  Work with colleagues in the US and Australia to ensure correct stock availability in all territories
  •  Creation of lead titles forecast documents for inventory managers across the consumer lists

Knowledge, skills and experience

  •  Exceptional organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  •  Strong Excel skills including Power Query, XLOOKUPs and Pivots Tables
  •  Good communication skills (oral and written)
  •  Strong numerical skills
  •  Flexible and quick to adapt
  •  Knowledge of Biblio, Vista and Cognos advantageous, but not essential

Additional information

The role is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £25,000

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP. Bloomsbury have a mandatory working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred).

Allocated office days for this role are: Monday & Tuesday

As an Assistant role, this position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. To assist candidates who want to start and to establish a career in publishing, Bloomsbury offers an interest-free rental deposit to support securing somewhere to live. The rental deposit loan can be up to £3,000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
