Product Marketing Lead, Postmark

Remote Full TimeChicago, IL, United States (Remote)ActiveCampaign

Postmark (by ActiveCampaign) is a product-led team that strives to accelerate our growth by creating delightful brand experiences across the entire customer journey. We believe in creative and transparent marketing to communicate how we take the headache out of API and SMTP-based email delivery so that our customers can focus on their business.

Even though thousands of organizations use Postmark, there are many more who haven’t heard of us yet. This is an exciting opportunity to join our 2-person marketing team as we refine our GTM strategy and introduce Sales for our next phase of growth. We’re looking for a Product Marketing Manager who can be equally strategic and tactical to communicate the value of Postmark, expand awareness, and help our audience see how Postmark is the best solution for their needs. You’ll own our messaging and positioning, work on launches, highlight unique aspects of Postmark, enable sales, and develop product marketing programs to drive feature awareness, product adoption, and revenue growth.

The right candidate is an entrepreneurial PMM generalist with a passion for communicating with technical audiences (think developers, product owners, and technical leadership) and earning their trust. This position reports to the Head of Marketing for Postmark, and involves collaborating with sales, customer success/support, design, and product.

What your day could consist of:

  • Become an expert on our buyers, customers, and users: Who they are, their pain points, how they evaluate solutions, and why (and how) they buy
  • Interview customers, observe the support queue, and/or listen to calls to discover unique stats and business value; use those data points to craft internal and external materials to drive our goals
  • Own our messaging and positioning by defining core copy and related assets that differentiates the Postmark product and brand in the market
  • Incorporating the content you create into our website, landing pages, blog posts, social assets, videos, webinars, and other deliverables as necessary to support the execution of your campaigns
  • Create and maintain core sales enablement materials, including training and collateral
  • Manage product launches, feature releases, and ongoing awareness/expansion activities from planning to strategy to execution to measurement
  • Conduct market research to identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive intelligence that will inform messaging and campaigns
  • Partner with demand, content, and growth marketing to contribute to cross-functional campaigns and ensure the value of Postmark is communicated appropriately
  • Monitor, measure, and analyze campaign performance, then implement self-identified areas for improvement

What is needed:

  • 5+ years of product marketing experience
  • Comfort with technical and/or infrastructure-based products. You understand what APIs and webhooks are, are excited about the unlimited ways users can put them to work, and are capable of translating technical specs into benefits that resonate with a technical audience
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful product marketing strategies and messaging that resonate with your target audience
  • Experience with sales enablement and creating sales collateral
  • Ability to develop strong product knowledge, understand the mind of your target buyers, and helping them achieve their goals
  • Strong project management skills with superb attention to detail—if you ship a campaign with a broken link it will temporarily ruin your day (but you’ll learn from the mistake!)
  • Track record of consistent experimentation, collaboration, on-time delivery, and measurable impact
  • Comfort with campaign analysis, measurement, reporting, and revenue impact
  • Excellent written (including copywriting and proofreading) and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with how to drive self-serve opportunities alongside higher-touch (sales) opportunities
  • Understanding of email technology and authentication topics like SMTP, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC is a plus
