Director of Product Marketing (Maternity Leave Contract)

Remote Full TimeToronto, ON, Canada (Remote)Acuity Insights

Acuity Insights is an EdTech product and research company in a high-growth phase.

We have a clear vision and product roadmap, a newly designed and launched market category, and we’re preparing to debut new product names.

While our Product Marketing Leader takes time off to welcome the newest addition to her family, we want to continue to scale the function, provide leadership for our team of product marketers and drive progress toward our bigger goal of becoming the market leader in our category.

That is why we’re searching for a strategic product marketing leader who likes to build, with a collaborative approach to their work and deep discipline knowledge to guide us through growth, scale and change over the next 20 months.

Opportunity and Impact

As the Director of Product Marketing with Acuity, you will be part of the dynamic work to bring a brand new market category to life.

Leveraging access to an existing portfolio of partners and thought leaders in higher education, you get to evolve and implement an integrated product marketing strategy and plans that go beyond tactical execution, and optimize our messaging to clear, relevant and compelling language that brings new and larger audiences along for the journey with us.

As our Product Marketing leader, you have the opportunity to orchestrate go-to-market strategies and product launches that expand us into new and existing verticals, working with products at different stages of maturity within various geographical markets globally.

In this role, you are empowered to make tough decisions and ruthlessly prioritize your team’s work, ensuring we focus on the right thing at the right time, seeking impact over volume.

You’ll drive collaboration with functional leaders and contributors at all levels across Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Learning & Enablement, Product, Research, Design, Development, and others to support new customer acquisition, customer adoption, customer retention and customer expansion with product and sales enablement content and market intelligence. You bring your enthusiasm and valued insights, observations and opinions to conversations to influence change and better business decisions.

As a people manager, you’ll guide, coach and inspire your team of product marketers and align them behind your vision and plans. You’ll teach them your proven product marketing methodology and processes so they can thrive in their roles and progress in their careers with Acuity.

Your success in this role will be instrumental in making Connected Outcomes Management the defacto category needed by all Higher Educational Institutions. Your success will also keep our teams across the Revenue organization competitively ahead and enable them to achieve and exceed their targets.

The Director of Product Marketing role is a full-time contract position and reports to our Senior Director of Marketing, Anju Visen-Singh. We welcome applications from across Canada.

To thrive in the role, you:

  • Are a seasoned product marketer who has had a chance to hone your craft through varied professional experiences, successes and failures.
  • Have developed a systematic way of building and delivering integrated product GTM strategies and launches and leading a product marketing function.
  • Come with experience streamlining product messaging and positioning and a knack for creating message clarity.
  • Know and have seen what a good product marketing function looks like in a scaling SaaS organization and understand what it takes to build one.
  • Are someone with a foundational understanding of category design and what is involved in creating it.
  • Bring people leadership experience and a coaching approach that has impacted your team’s development and enabled their growth and accomplishments as product marketers.
  • Are a driver of cross-functional collaboration and have success influencing, persuading, and creating alignment across teams.
  • Leverage your passion and enthusiasm for our customers and product to drive the success of our solutions in the market.
  • Can lead and operate in ambiguity, take action without having every detail and have the confidence and courage to experiment in supportive environments.

To thrive at Acuity, you are:

  • Caring toward people. You show up, take time to listen and understand, encourage and support, and don’t shy away from providing feedback and mentoring and teaching others to help them grow.
  • Curious by nature and open to possibilities. You like to explore, ask questions, experiment, and learn.
  • Driven to problem-solve and biased towards action.
  • Adaptable and outcome-oriented with a preference for fluid and changing work environments where you get to build, make a visible impact, and positively influence change and progress.
  • Someone with strong yet loosely held opinions.
  • Purpose-driven and inspired by our company’s mission.

The selection and interview process:

We designed our process to deliver an equitable and memorable experience. It is a two-way discovery, and we encourage you to ask us lots of questions along the way.

Here are the general steps you can expect:

  • Selection. An actual human – not bots – reviews your resume and assesses your experience and application responses for alignment with hiring criteria.
  • Intro Conversation. If selected, we invite you to share the story behind your resume and professional interests and learn more about the role, team and company. (45-60 minute phone call)
  • Meet The Manager. Have an in-depth conversation about relevant experiences and the day-to-day on the team with your potential future manager. (30-60 minute video call)
  • Meet the Team. Spend some time learning about the day-to-day in the position and life at Acuity. The team assesses your human and technical competencies and company fit. Before the interview, we may ask you to complete a take-home assignment that mirrors some aspects of the role and present your work to the team. (2.5 – 3 hour video call)
  • Wait For a Final Decision. The Hiring Manager consolidates and evaluates feedback from the people you meet to make a decision. (2-4 days)
  • Receive an Offer / Reference Check. If it’s determined you are a good match for the role, team, and Acuity, we invite you to an offer conversation. The offer is contingent upon the completion of references.

Key benefits:

  • Equitable Pay. Your contract salary is based on compensable factors and respects internal equity.
  • Flexible Work Arrangements. Work from where you want in Canada, and have flexible working hours to optimize your work-life balance.
  • Self-Directed Vacation. You can take time off when you choose and need it. We recommend one week per quarter, but this is flexible to suit your life situation and needs.
  • Company-wide Time Off. Turn off work for Acuity Days (a bonus Friday off every month) and the last two weeks in December (for the Holiday Season).
  • Sick Time, Bereavement Leave & Personal Days. Take paid time off when you need to, have a medical or family emergency, experience the loss of a loved one, or need to nurture your mental health and well-being.
  • Wellness Platform Membership. Through our partnership with Cyno, you can access providers supporting your holistic well-being with services like counselling, anxiety & depression coaching, art & music therapy, fitness sessions and veterinary technicians.
