About the Role
The Sales Operations Manager is a newly created, hybrid leadership role bridging sales strategy and operational execution across local and international (GX) channels. Based in Cockburn Central, WA, and reporting jointly to the HGM and the COO, this position is responsible for developing, implementing and reporting on the sales strategy for the WA and GX markets, while driving the systems, processes and capability required to scale the business units. The role partners closely with the HGM to support GX tasks, shares accountability for sales and operational KPIs across all markets and provides leadership and a shared reporting line to the WA sales & service team. The successful candidate will combine commercial acumen with strong process discipline and change-management capability, and will undertake a measure of key account management and servicing to remain close to the customer.
Responsibilities
Sales Strategy, Planning & Forecasting
- Develop, implement and report on the sales strategy for the local WA and Global Markets (GX) business units, aligned to national commercial objectives.
- Build accurate sales forecasts and pipeline projections by analysing historical trends, order pipeline and market intelligence to support executive decision-making.
- Define territory, channel and account priorities, and set fair, motivating targets across local and international markets.
- Support the HGM with GX tasks, commercial modelling and special-project analysis as required.
Sales & Operations Reporting (KPIs)
- Own the design, production and distribution of shared sales and operations KPI reporting across local and international markets.
- Deliver deep-dive analytics on sales performance, conversion, margin, service levels and operational efficiency, translating data into actionable insight.
- Identify bottlenecks across the sales and fulfilment funnel and present solutions to the HGM and COO.
- Establish reporting standards, cadence and data governance to ensure a single, trusted source of truth for the sales & service team.
Systems, Processes & Continuous Improvement
- Lead the liaison, development, implementation and rollout of improved systems and processes for the WA sales & service team and GX business unit to ensure scalability and serviceability.
- Map current-state workflows, identify gaps and design streamlined, automated processes that reduce manual effort, duplication and friction.
- Develop and maintain supporting documentation, SOPs and training collateral for new systems and processes.
- Drive adoption through structured change management, training and accountability across the WA sales & service team.
Training, Accountability & Team Leadership
- Provide leadership and a shared reporting line for the WA sales & service team alongside the HGM.
- Directly manage, develop and mentor the WA Operations Administrator (TBA), setting clear expectations and holding the role accountable to agreed standards.
- Build and deliver onboarding and continuous-training frameworks covering sales process, systems and servicing standards.
- Foster a high-performance, accountable and collaborative team culture.
Key Account Management & Servicing
- Undertake a measure of key account management and servicing to maintain a hands-on understanding of customer needs and the sales & servicing experience.
- Act as an escalation point for priority accounts, resolving complex commercial or service issues.
- Use frontline customer insight to inform strategy, process improvement and reporting.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Sales, Finance, Logistics, Warehouse and Customer Service to align priorities and remove friction from the end-to-end commercial process.
- Provide commercial and operational input into pricing, quoting, margin and service-to-cost decisions.
- Represent the WA and GX business units in national commercial planning and reporting forums.
Skills
- Demonstrated experience in sales operations, commercial operations or a similar hybrid sales/operations role, with previous people-leadership experience.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop, implement and report on sales strategy across local, national and international markets.
- High proficiency in data analysis and reporting, including advanced Microsoft Excel and Business Intelligence / dashboarding tools.
- Proven ability to map, design and implement scalable systems and processes, with strong change-management and training capability.
- Experience with CRM, ERP or order-management systems and the configuration / optimisation of the commercial tech stack.
- Excellent stakeholder management, able to align priorities across Sales, Finance, Logistics and Operations.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and a structured, process-driven approach.
- Excellent communication, customer-service and account-management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proactive, accountable and a strong team leader.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, Analytics or a related field (desirable).
