Our sales team is focused on finding efficient paths to successful, profitable, long term customers by building a user-driven marketing and sales engine. To do so, we employ a bottom-up enterprise sales model by helping many small, successful customers evolve into larger, successful ones. We act as a key voice of the customer to the product team. We help identify and overcome technical, educational, and competitive obstacles to our continued growth.
As an Outbound AE, you’ll own a book made up of small spend accounts or free accounts. These customers, left unassisted, often remain small. You will be the one to identify the need and opportunity for growth in these accounts, generate a meaningful pipeline, and guide the customer to a larger expansion. This is a crucial part of Asana’s Seed, Land, Expand, and Explode customer journey and will require strong outbound and discovery skills.
This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. Along with most Asanas, you’ll work from this office in person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you’re interviewing for this role, your Talent Acquisition Partner will share more about the in-office requirements.
What you’ll achieve
- Proactively manage a book of small to mid-sized customers, serving as their main point of contact until the account grows past a certain threshold.
- Navigate mid-sized organizations to map stakeholders, generate pipeline, build champions, get buy-in, and close deals with C-Level, VP-level, and Director-level decision-makers
- Play a pivotal role in Asana’s business by unlocking the growth potential of customers that may otherwise stay static
- Pilot and help define sales playbooks for this new sales motion
About you
- 2-3 years of closing experience in a hunting/outbound focused AE role, with a track record of consistently exceeding sales targets
- Strong discovery skills, adept at identifying hidden growth opportunities and unmet customer needs
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to articulate value propositions, handle objections, and confidently close deals
- Highly motivated and driven, demonstrating a relentless pursuit of success and continuously seeking new opportunities for growth
- Exceptional organizational skills, capable of effectively managing and prioritizing a high volume of accounts and sales opportunities
- Well-versed in selling to various different departments/functions within a company
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, leveraging strong sales acumen and adaptability to drive results
- Experience using an outbound sales tech stack (Outreach.io, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Scratchpad, Aurora, or similar)

To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we’re committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.
For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $75,000 – $95,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.
In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
