DPS – FIN – Revenue Accounting Support Specialist – 1002

This is a revenue accounting support specialist position that requires a high school graduate with one year of experience in complex accounting or bookkeeping activities. The position involves analyzing, coding, and processing revenue documents, as well as performing various data processing activities. The role requires a valid driver’s license, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Requirements

• Analyzing, determining the cause of, and initiating or accomplishing resolution of problems related to the complex system of coding revenue documents
• Processing documents and revenues received with payment stubs using the revenue processing machine
• Maintaining history and transaction files, and performing other miscellaneous data processing activities
• Editing daily computer report of revenue items and amounts to identify and initiate correction of entry errors
• Researching reconciliation discrepancies; verifying and balancing revenue receipts and fees received from various entities
• Receiving, sorting, counting, and logging cash and money instruments received
• Analyzing and interpreting complex account receivables
• Entering, retrieving, revising, and deleting stored data
• Analyzing and testing new or existing procedures, information systems, or utility programs for efficiency and effectiveness
• Assisting with documenting communication network, Fairfax configuration
• Designing, modifying, and implementing new or revised systems to serve new purposes or improve work flow
• Assisting with the development of new procedures, standards, tools, and techniques
• Recommending improvements, adaptations, or revisions to the accounting system, and accompanying procedures
• Delivering deposit of money instruments to Comptroller of Public Accounts via assigned fleet vehicle
• Attending work regularly and observing approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies
• Performing other duties as assigned
