Coherent Corp. is seeking a motivated and hands-on Data Scientist to join their team within the Laser Business Unit in Zurich, Switzerland. The ideal candidate will have strong foundations in machine learning and modern AI techniques, with experience in semiconductor laser manufacturing and VCSELs and edge emitters.
Requirements
- Develop, train, and deploy ML models to support process optimization, yield improvement, and quality control in semiconductor laser manufacturing.
- Contribute to the development of AI-powered solutions leveraging modern techniques such as Generative AI / Agentic AI workflows, LLM-assisted analytics, and ML pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with production engineers, process experts, and data engineers to translate manufacturing challenges into data-driven solutions.
- Perform feature engineering, model validation, and statistical analysis on manufacturing and reliability datasets.
- Support integration of AI solutions into production workflows and ensure scalability and robustness.
- Participate in experiment design and validation of predictive models.
- Contribute to documentation, version control, and CI/CD best practices within the team.
