Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Revenue Officer

The Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Revenue Officer will report directly to the Director of Athletics and serve on the Executive Staff Leadership Team. This position is responsible for creating, developing, and overseeing the strategy for all external departments of the Athletics Department, including Ticket Sales, Development, NFL and NBA Integration, The Lancer Way, Fan Engagement, Creative Services and Communications, Video, and Multi-media Rights. This individual fosters collaboration among cross-functional teams and is responsible for maintaining productive relationships with university campus partners and the surrounding Longwood community and corporate partners and donors. The successful individual will be responsible for developing new and enhancing existing revenue generation, marketing and promotional strategies, and fan engagement while leveraging all of our on-campus assets, including our ESPN production team, marketing and fan engagement team, donor relations and ticketing team, alumni engagement, and corporate partnerships team. This position creates and implements strategic plans for all Athletics campaigns, sets annual goals and objectives, directs and oversees the department’s overall brand and storytelling efforts, and manages select head coaches.

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, sports marketing, advertising, or a related field
  • Prior experience in sales, development, ticket operations, financial management, personnel management, marketing, strategic planning, promotions, and game day operations
  • Minimum five years’ experience and proven success in a senior revenue-generation position within intercollegiate athletics or professional sports
  • Demonstrated understanding of successful strategies that impact revenue streams and fundraising opportunities, including identifying new corporate marketing partners for athletic programs
  • Demonstrated expertise in written and oral communication skills, including publication development and creative marketing and communication planning
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with and commitment to diversity
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends
