Director of Marketing & Communications

Nationwide, An exciting opportunity awaits the right candidate! Headquartered in New York, NY, the American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification Inc. (ABPANC) seeks a new Director of Marketing & Communications working in a remote location to join its team.
The ABPANC Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for developing and implementing ABPANC’s integrated marketing strategies and communications, public relations activities, and industry conferences, for both internal and external audiences. The director will work collaboratively and on a wide array of ABPANC projects and programs with various stakeholder groups including but not limited to Board members, other volunteer leaders, vendors, nurses, exam candidates/ABPANC customers, and other certification groups.
Specific Job Duties:
MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS:
Strategic Initiatives:

Establish goals, metrics, and reporting for monitoring and measuring success of marketing efforts. Use metrics to identify areas for improvement and success stories in ABPANC’s marketing efforts; act upon those metrics to adjust strategy as needed.
Research and develop strategies to reach eligible perianesthesia nurses nationwide to promote and encourage certification.
Spearhead the strategic execution of marketing campaigns and activities, including advertising, public relations, special events and promotions.
Ensure consistency in ABPANC brand recognition and messaging across all communications channels.

Tactical Initiatives:

Develop and maintain ABPANC website content for certification, recertification, board and volunteer resources, and other initiatives.
Design and create marketing materials for ABPANC, including brochures, postcards, posters, fliers, digital images, and other collateral marketing pieces.
Recommend and coordinate the production of ABPANC logo and promotional items for sale and as giveaways, as needed.
Coordinate, plan and manage communications activities, including outreach efforts to communicate with ABPANC customers and exam candidates.
Serve as the primary writer and editor for ABPANC public relations and communications messages including website content, social media content, Learning Builder notifications, news releases, promotional pieces, Breathline content, speeches, presentations and other writing pieces as assigned.
Develop and manage an ongoing integrated social media strategy to build ABPANC audiences across social media platforms.
Serve as primary liaison to manage marketing-related vendors and contractors including website, promotional items supplier, and others.
Manage and implement the ABPANC awards and scholarship program.
Coordinate and promote special projects and initiatives related to ABPANC customers including but not limited to Certified Nurses Day; PANAW; National Nurses Week, and others.

MEETINGS:

Manage ABPANC’s industry exhibit program to include researching and recommending meetings and venues for ABPANC to participate as an exhibitor.
Coordinate ABPANC’s participation in industry conferences; design and produce ABPANC exhibit booth and materials; and manage conference logistics including shipping coordination.
Coordinates travel and hotel arrangements for board and staff attending industry conferences and other conferences/meetings.
Assist in the planning and coordination of special events including aspects of large conferences (such as the ASPAN conference); Celebration Luncheon and similar events.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

Serve as staff liaison for the marketing and awards committee and other task forces and committees as assigned by CEO.
Assist in the development of reports, Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and proposals for board consideration, as required.
Prepare drafts of publications and promotional collateral materials on a variety of subjects, including reports, as assigned by CEO.
Respond to ABPANC phone calls, general email inquiries and customer service issues, as needed.
Job Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
Previous non-profit association experience preferred.
Healthcare background and knowledge about certification preferred.
Demonstrated creativity in the development of marketing, public relations, and educational program and communications materials.
Demonstrated success in all aspects of event logistics and planning.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency and experience using InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, or related graphic design software.
Proficiency and experience creating dynamic presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Self-motivated and able to work successfully alone and as a member of a team.
Innovative, analytical and excellent problem solver.
Ability to manage multiple projects and/or priorities successfully.
Ability to communicate with others in a way that is supportive and caring, builds consensus, and resolves conflicts.
Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Survey Monkey, Microsoft Outlook and other Office 365 products. Able to learn new software quickly.
Ability to travel occasionally.
Experience managing a budget preferred.
