The Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Brand Strategist and Copywriter to lead the development of our brand voice and messaging from the ground up. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our designer to create all brand identity elements, ensuring they effectively represent our brand’s essence. Your expertise will be instrumental in crafting compelling messaging that resonates with our target audiences. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in validating our messaging through audience research and feedback, while also driving all copywriting needs across our marketing and product initiatives. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact by building a strong brand foundation and delivering engaging copy that elevates our brand’s presence and drives success across all touchpoints. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in copywriting and brand strategy work, and has experience engaging with the Gen Z audience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Brand Strategy Development: Lead the development of the Genuin’s overall brand strategy, including brand positioning, messaging, and value proposition. Align the brand strategy with the company’s objectives and target audience.
  2. Brand Identity Definition: Collaborate closely with designers to develop all brand identity elements, such as logos, visual assets, color schemes, and typography. Ensure that the brand identity accurately represents the brand’s essence and resonates with the target audience.
  3. Messaging Development: Create compelling and persuasive messaging that effectively communicates the brand’s unique value propositions, differentiators, and story. Craft brand narratives and key messages that resonate with the target audience across various marketing and product channels.
  4. Audience Testing: Test and validate brand messaging, positioning, and visual identity with the target audience through scrappy research, surveys, and feedback. Analyze data and insights to refine and optimize the brand strategy and messaging.
  5. Copywriting and Content Development: Develop engaging and persuasive copy for various marketing and product materials, including websites, social media, advertising campaigns, product descriptions, and email marketing. Ensure brand consistency and tone of voice across all copywriting efforts.
  6. Brand Guidelines and Standards: Develop and maintain brand guidelines and standards to ensure consistency across all communication channels. Enforce brand voice, messaging, and visual identity guidelines to maintain a cohesive brand experience.
  7. Collaboration and Cross-functional Alignment: Collaborate with designers, marketers, product managers, and other stakeholders to align brand strategy, messaging, and visual identity across all touchpoints. Ensure effective communication and collaboration to achieve shared brand objectives.

Requirements:

  1. 5+ years of experience in brand strategy, building a new brand from the ground up. Bonus points if this brand is tailored to the Gen-Z audience.
  2. 5+ years of experience in brand & marketing copywriting (across web, digital, social, email, etc.)
  3. Comfortable player and coach, balancing driving strategy and going deep on execution.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  6. Ability to communicate and collaborate with a fully remote team.
  7. Freelancer, committed to work up to ~30 hours per week as needed as we ramp up this work.
  8. As we start scaling (1000+ DAUs; finding PMF), this should turn into an FTE role.
