We’re looking for

A Vice President of Marketing who will set a vision, lead, and implement effective marketing strategies that align with our business goals. This position is remote and can be located anywhere in North America.

This position will lead – currently a team of 6 who is responsible for content and communications, PR, social media, SEO, and paid marketing. The right candidate will be able to build off this amazing marketing foundation that is already in place and lead the department in new initiatives to help the company grow. Currently, this department reports to the COO and GetMyBoat is at the point of hiring a VP that can act as the glue to bind all the different functions of marketing together and grow beyond existing initiatives.

This position will work closely with the executive team to design and deliver against a marketing strategic roadmap that ensures that the Marketing team’s activities contribute to our company’s long-term success. Success in the first year of this role will be defined as

  • Benchmarking existing strategies and goals
  • Review and advise on the marketing roadmap
  • Identify gaps in existing marketing efforts
  • Identify process and operational improvements in current workflows
  • Identify new opportunities to execute with existing stakeholders (SEO, SEM, Content, Social, PR)
  • Draw on substantial experience to estimate the value and effort (cost/benefit) of strategies and tactics and prioritize accordingly
  • Run point on driving execution and reporting of all marketing efforts
  • Improved throughput on efforts that drive Traffic, Conversions, Backlinks, Partnerships, and Brand Awareness (Or other metrics that the candidate will identify)
  • Help team members to create scalable processes internally and with freelancers/vendors on large-scale throughput


  • Analyze existing marketing strategies and create a marketing plan that improves upon them
  • Build, retain, lead, and coach a high-performing marketing team
  • Set goals and prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and yearly marketing dashboards and budgets, and allocate resources appropriately
  • Design, plan, and execute effective marketing campaigns in line with the plan and determine and implement metrics to measure campaign effectiveness
  • Monitor and keep updated on the digital market and industry trends
  • Building brand awareness and generating innovative ideas to promote the brand/product
  • Creating content strategies based on company objectives, category focus, and audience segments across all channels (online/offline/social)
  • Work with the product/design team to create a cadence of fresh marketing materials
  • Work closely with the VP of Sales and Business Development on key partnerships

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience as a VP of Marketing, Senior Marketing Director, or another role equivalent to the most-senior marketing leader within a marketplace/tech/or other related types of company
  • You are a strong leader who has built, scaled, and led high-performing marketing teams
  • Demonstrable experience implementing successful marketing campaigns with good knowledge across marketing, including brand marketing, PR, content management, digital marketing & performance marketing
  • Demonstrable experience with brand identity, positioning, communication design, copywriting, audience messaging, market research, and creative production
  • Expert knowledge of Customer Journey frameworks and successful tactics in each stage
  • Solid knowledge of SEO, web analytics (GA4), and Google Adwords
  • Experience with CRM software and digital marketing tools and techniques
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Strategic thinker & problem solver with the ability to be hands-on and make difficult decisions
  • You are adept at building relationships and collaborating with multiple individuals and other teams and thrive in remote and/or global environment
  • Experience in a player-coach position. This role will be responsible for managing but also helping to contribute to the execution of the set initiatives
  • Problems and failures are seen as opportunities to improve, tweak, and ultimately succeed
  • Experience with marketplace businesses or large-scale websites (Over 1M pages) marketing
  • Experience creating viral loops to build exponential growth in demand
