Investor Group Services (IGS) invites candidates with an interest in private equity, growth strategy, commercialization, and creating value for clients to apply for the Consultant role. This position will start in Summer 2025, ASAP.

IGS is a trusted advisor supporting investors and business leaders through transactions, growth and portfolio value creation initiatives. As a boutique advisory firm that works with private equity firms, strategic acquirers, and their portfolio companies, we help our clients assess investment opportunities across most major sectors by providing them with the data-driven insights and analysis they need to make investments in middle market companies and industries.

As part of our continued growth, we are hiring a Growth & GTM Strategy Consultant who will specialize in working with PE sponsors and their portfolio companies on key areas of growth strategy, including expansion & adjacency planning, commercialization, customer behavior, and sales strategy & enablement.

WHAT WE DO AT IGS: M&A Due Diligence, Sell-side Industry Analysis, Growth Strategy, GTM Strategy, & Pricing Strategy.

  • Buy-side commercial diligence on mission critical investment issues (addressable market, growth, competition, VoC) for PE & corporate acquisitions.
  • Sell-side industry reports to assist owners, management, and their advisors/investment bankers in preparing a company for sale.
  • Assisting portfolio company management in realizing value through accelerated organic growth, buy and build acquisition strategies and targeted quick strike value creation.
  • Advising clients on market entry, sales and marketing alignment, channel strategy, and customer segmentation to enhance market penetration and revenue growth.

Role Overview

As a Growth & GTM Strategy Consultant, you will lead client engagements focused on developing and refining GTM strategies across various industries. You will apply commercial, financial, and customer insights to design actionable plans that improve market reach and revenue performance. The role offers the opportunity to combine rigorous analysis with strategic storytelling in a high-impact, entrepreneurial environment.

In addition, Consultants build and develop team and client management skills and are given a high level of responsibility for their projects and teams early in their tenure. You will manage teams of associates and interface directly with clients, owning the full lifecycle of project delivery—from scoping and design to insights and implementation support.

Job Responsibilities

GTM Consultant candidates should have exceptional project management, research, and analytical experience. Candidates should be interested in:

  • Leading and managing Growth and GTM strategy engagements for private equity portfolio companies and corporate clients.
  • Conducting market assessments, customer segmentation, and competitive analysis to inform GTM strategies.
  • Designing and implementing sales and marketing alignment plans, channel strategies, and customer engagement models.
  • Developing frameworks and tools to support clients in executing their GTM strategies effectively.
  • Managing client relationships, ensuring thoughtful communication of findings and recommendations.
  • Assuming a high level of responsibility on client teams as well as within firm.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to refine IGS’s GTM methodology and expand our capabilities in this offering.
  • Working in a dynamic and hybrid environment.
  • Working and living in Boston, Chicago or New York City (The IGS Growth & GTM Strategy Group is a consulting “travel-lite” organization. We travel for client work as requested / necessary – typically upwards of 2 or 3 times per month)

What We Expect Of You

Consultants at IGS begin their careers as project leaders and have the opportunity for rapid career progression, including advancement within the team, exposure to client interaction, and leadership opportunities. A strong candidate for this role will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; a focus in economics, business, finance, or a quantitative field is a plus; MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in revenue operations, growth strategy, sales strategy, or customer success.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights. Very strong data analytics skills and capabilities (familiarity with statistical modeling, programming, etc.)
  • Strong ability to navigate financial statements, including the ability to build pro-forma P&L’s
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading small teams.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and tight timelines; ability to lead multiple workstreams in parallel.
  • Client-ready communication skills, including executive presentation development and delivery.
  • Experience in the C-Suite or with VP level executives, especially CEOs, CROs, VP-Sales, CMO, VP-Marketing.
  • Experience in GTM strategy, sales and marketing alignment, or revenue operations.
  • Prior consulting experience or portfolio operations experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed for client work (may be up to 1 – 2 times per month or more)

  • Ability to quickly assume a high level of responsibility as a project manager in small case teams and within the firm.
  • Comfort with working in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work directly with senior management and private equity clients.
  • Specific experience in consulting, private equity or market assessment is preferred.
