Modus Planning is a fast-growing SaaS company revolutionizing the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry. As we continue to scale, we are seeking a VP of Marketing to drive revenue expansion, build a high-performing growth team, and lead strategic marketing initiatives.
About the Role
The VP of Marketing will be responsible for defining and executing strategies that take Modus Planning from <$2MM ARR to $20MM+ and beyond. This role requires a data-driven, execution-focused leader who thrives at the intersection of marketing, product-led growth, and revenue generation.
The ideal candidate will:
- Own and scale marketing functions, including content marketing, performance marketing, SEO, brand, and demand generation.
- Build and lead a team, transitioning from an individual contributor role to a structured, highly effective team as the company grows.
- Develop and execute data-driven marketing strategies, leveraging A/B testing, conversion rate optimization, and audience insights.
- Optimize the customer journey from lead acquisition to retention, ensuring scalable, repeatable growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop & Execute Growth Strategies
- Define and implement a scalable growth strategy to drive revenue, client acquisition, and market share.
- Experiment with innovative tactics to optimize customer acquisition, activation, and retention.
- Analyze and explore new market opportunities to expand our reach within CPG brands.
2. Build & Lead a High-Performance Growth Team
- Hire, mentor, and manage a team of Marketing marketers, content strategists, and performance marketers.
- Set clear KPIs and performance benchmarks for team members, ensuring accountability.
- Foster a data-driven and experimentation-first culture, enabling rapid iteration and learning.
3. Performance Marketing & A/B Testing
- Develop and execute multi-channel performance marketing campaigns (paid search, social, programmatic, and email marketing).
- Own budget allocation and campaign ROI, ensuring efficient customer acquisition costs (CAC).
- Leverage A/B testing to optimize ad creatives, landing pages, and conversion funnels.
- Continuously refine messaging and targeting based on data insights.
4. Customer Journey Optimization & Retention
- Map and optimize the end-to-end customer journey, from initial touchpoint to conversion and retention.
- Implement growth loops that drive organic and referral-based expansion.
- Improve onboarding and user activation metrics through strategic interventions.
5. Content & Brand Marketing
- Oversee the development of high-impact content strategies across blog, social, and email.
- Align content with demand generation goals to drive lead conversion.
- Maintain brand positioning and messaging consistency across all platforms.
6. Website & Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
- Own website growth strategy, ensuring an optimized user experience.
- A/B test landing pages and CTAs to improve conversions.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to enhance site performance and engagement.
7. Data-Driven Growth & Analytics
- Define and track KPIs across the marketing funnel, from awareness to retention.
- Leverage tools like Google Analytics, HubSpot, and attribution modeling to optimize strategy.
- Make data-backed decisions, iterating on what works and pivoting when necessary.
8. Public Relations & Industry Thought Leadership
- Manage PR initiatives to enhance Modus Planning’s visibility and credibility.
- Build relationships with media, influencers, and industry leaders in the CPG space.
- Represent Modus Planning at conferences, panels, and webinars to drive brand authority.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of scaling a SaaS business from $2MM ARR to $50MM+.
- Experience in performance marketing, A/B testing, and data-driven optimization.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience building and managing high-performing teams.
- Expertise in demand generation, conversion optimization, and retention strategies.
- Ability to execute both short-term wins and long-term vision.
- Deep understanding of CPG, SaaS, or B2B marketing landscapes.
- Excellent analytical, strategic, and communication skills.
- Experience with HubSpot, Google Analytics, paid acquisition channels, and marketing automation tools.
- Experience with Account-Based Marketing is strongly desired
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in growth marketing, preferably in a high-growth SaaS environment.
