We are seeking a part-time Chief Medical Officer to lead its transition from preclinical success into first-in-human studies for an immuno-oncology startup that is in the process of raising their Series A funding. The company is advancing a novel cancer immunotherapy platform with broad clinical potential and is currently preparing for IND-enabling studies.

This is an ideal role for an oncology physician-executive with big pharma experience who is looking for their first CMO position in a high-growth startup environment. This is a rare opportunity to step into a first-time CMO role with significant visibility, help shape the clinical path of a cutting-edge oncology platform, and share in the long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead clinical development strategy and IND preparation for innovative oncology therapeutics.
  • Represent the company to investors, regulators, and the scientific community.
  • Partner with the executive team and advisors to shape long-term direction.
  • Engage with KOLs and represent the company at major oncology conferences.

Ideal Candidate:

  • MD/MBBS or equivalent with oncology/hematology background.
  • 5–10+ years in oncology drug development with time at a major biopharma.
  • Experience advancing assets from IND to early/mid-stage clinical trials.
  • Strong communicator, confident in engaging with investors and VCs.
  • Based in the Baltimore/DC area preferred; hybrid flexibility available.
