Data Scientist, Division Management & Systems Coordination

The Division of Disease Control’s mission is to safeguard the health of New Yorkers through identification, surveillance, treatment, control, and prevention of infectious diseases. The Data Scientist will develop analytic processes and reporting tools to improve the data quality of Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) and Electronic Case Reporting (ECR) data streams.

Requirements

  • Develop and maintain Data Quality Assessment tools for electronic lab and case reporting
  • Create and maintain interactive R Shiny dashboards for monitoring and evaluating data quality
  • Design and maintain data quality and compliance reports
  • Develop and maintain automated data processing and reporting pipelines
  • Manage project requirements, timelines, deliverables, and prepare reports accordingly
  • Manage communication with stakeholders
  • Conduct analyses to improve automated detection of data quality and reporting issues
  • Develop and maintain API connectivity with Redcap for automated reporting
  • Help with the implementation of outbreak detection pipelines across disease programs
  • Assist in the coordination of research efforts and conduct ad hoc analyses as needed
