Senior Specialist – Data Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Specialist – Data Engineer at Sun Life, you will be responsible for executing strategic vision for the enterprise data platform and leading the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions. You will be a core member of the data platform squad and work with teams across the organization to empower them with business-critical use cases.

What You Will Do

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include designing and building data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses, as well as working with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache NiFi. You will also be expected to have hands-on experience with AWS services and strong expertise in Snowflake, Starburst Trino, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data-driven technologies
• Strong expertise in Snowflake, Starburst Trino, PostgreSQL, SQL Server (SSMS)
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache NiFi
• Proven ability to design and build Data pipelines, Data lakes, and Data warehouses
• Advanced Python and SQL skills
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, EC2, EKS, RDS)
• Strong Git, CI/CD, and code review practices
• Functional knowledge of the asset management domain
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and outcome-driven decision-making skills
