Role Overview

The Counter Sales Lead is responsible for directing the work of Counter Sales Representatives. This position assists customers and contractors with the sales process by taking orders over the counter, answering questions, and receiving payment for customer orders. The Counter Sales Lead is responsible for greeting and interacting with customers in a positive manner, processing customer sales, and providing initial responses to customer inquiries.

What You Will Do

The Counter Sales Lead will process customer sales through the use of a cash register, receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits, and create accurate and complete invoices, work orders, and sales tickets. The Counter Sales Lead will also assist with physical inventory, maintain stock levels on the sales floor and in the stockroom, and maintain the appearance of the showroom.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of building material industry experience
  • Extensive knowledge of product and application
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Maintenance of professional demeanor
  • Detail oriented and highly observant
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good mathematic skills
  • Ability to use a calculator and computers
  • Knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry
  • Good interpersonal and customer relations skills
  • Vendor knowledge
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Familiarity with computer, printer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, engineer’s scale/ruler, mechanical tools, inventory, and inventory control
  • Ability to drive and walk throughout yards, plants and offices
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office products and Trend system
  • Ability to work Saturday and evening schedules as required
