Head of Finance Operations

Role Overview

The Head of Finance Operations leads four teams of about 50 colleagues in total, most of them centralised in Hoofddorp, with a second hub in Madrid and a handful of colleagues in other European countries. The role involves leading teams to get the numbers right at the source, making processes faster, more accurate, and increasingly automated, and ensuring compliance with internal control framework.

What You Will Do

The Head of Finance Operations will lead the teams to improve the quality of data and bookings where they originate, automate processes, run an accurate and swift close, collect smartly, pay accurately and on time, and safeguard control and compliance.

They should have a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field, and at least 8 years of proven experience in a finance operations management role in an international environment.

Requirements

• A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
• At least 8 years of proven experience in a finance operations management role in an international environment
• Experience leading teams across multiple locations, countries and languages
• Proven track record in process improvement and automation, ideally in a high-volume transactional environment
• Solid knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP
• Energy for a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organisation
• Strong understanding of internal control and compliance in finance processes
• The ability to use KPIs to steer teams, and the judgement to see where a metric can create unwanted behaviour
• Strong stakeholder and communication skills, including the ability to explain choices to non-finance colleagues
• Fluent in English, with a preference for a second language (Dutch, French, Spanish or German)
