AI Operations Engineer

Role Overview

Coast is re-imagining the trillion-dollar U.S. B2B card payments infrastructure. The AI Operations Engineer will join a small internal AI team to build autonomous agents and the foundation that makes everyone’s skills better. The role requires finding and prioritizing work, building autonomous agents, measuring impact, and running what’s shipped.

What You Will Do

The AI Operations Engineer will build autonomous agents, drive measurable gains in Coast’s operating efficiency, and own reliability, latency, and cost in production. They will also enable the company by architecting the shared foundation for AI-native infrastructure and training people to use it.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of experience in operations, product, or solutions engineering, a track record of shipping AI workflows, and hands-on fluency with coding agents and LLM tooling. They should be comfortable writing and reading code, have clear communication skills, and be able to teach as well as build.

Requirements

• 2–5 years in operations, product, solutions or forward-deployed engineering, internal tools, or a similar role at a fast-moving company
• A track record of shipping AI workflows or automations that people use every day
• Hands-on fluency with Claude Code, Cursor or similar coding agents, plus LLM tooling such as prompt design, tool use and MCP
• Experience with evals: building test sets, scoring outputs and using the results to improve an agent
• Comfort writing and reading code: SQL, plus Python or TypeScript scripting, APIs and webhooks
• Clear communication with non-technical teammates
• High agency: you spot inefficient processes and fix them without waiting to be asked
