Sales Operations Specialist
Location: Remote, U.S.
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $75,000–$95,000 annually
The Opportunity
DirSec, LLC is looking for an experienced Sales Operations Specialist to join our Sales Operations team. This position will report directly to our Director of Operations and work closely with another Sales Operations Specialist, our Account Executives, Director of Sales, accounting team, technology vendors, and distribution partners.
Sales Operations plays a critical role at DirSec, supporting opportunities from quote request through order placement while helping ensure our sales organization can respond quickly and accurately to customers.
The majority of this role is focused on creating and managing customer quotes, statements of work, and purchase orders. Some transactions are straightforward, while others involve complex multi-year pricing, payment structures, contractual terms, and other nonstandard requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Create accurate customer quotes and SOWs in Salesforce using information and pricing provided by Account Executives, vendors, distributors, and service providers.
- Review vendor and distributor quotes for pricing, product, coverage, payment, and other relevant details before preparing customer-facing quotes.
- Manage quote revisions and increasingly complex transactions.
- Review vendor and distributor terms and incorporate applicable customer-facing terms into quotes, using AI and other tools when appropriate while independently validating the output.
- Maintain accurate quote and opportunity information in Salesforce.
- Process customer orders and purchase orders accurately and promptly and manage related communications with vendors and distributors.
- Manage and prioritize requests through the shared Sales Operations inbox based on urgency, customer deadlines, and business impact.
- Identify and resolve pricing discrepancies, margin issues, conflicting terms, missing information, and other potential problems before quotes or orders leave DirSec.
- Work closely with Account Executives and other internal teams to resolve questions and keep opportunities moving.
- Identify and implement practical improvements to quoting, ordering, documentation, and other Sales Operations processes to increase accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and automation while maintaining appropriate quality controls. Coordinate Salesforce enhancement requests, work with external consultants on improvements, and assist with testing and implementation of new features and workflows.
What We’re Looking For
This is a detail-intensive position. Accuracy is the first priority, followed closely by responsiveness, organization, and ownership. The right person will enjoy detailed work, notice when something doesn’t look right, manage competing priorities effectively, and independently research and resolve issues.
The strongest candidates will also have:
- Prior experience in Sales Operations, quoting, order management, deal desk, or a similar role.
- Salesforce experience strongly preferred. Salesforce is our primary system for quoting and opportunity management.
- Experience working for a value-added reseller (VAR), technology distributor, cybersecurity company, software or technology company, or similar channel environment strongly preferred.
- Experience reviewing vendor or distributor quotes and working with pricing, cost, markup, margin, discounts, and other commercial information.
- Strong numerical aptitude and the judgment to recognize when pricing or other information does not appear reasonable.
- Persistence and the ability to maintain accuracy through repetitive data entry, lengthy quotes, multiple revisions, and complex transactions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with sales, management, accounting, vendors, distributors, and third-party service providers.
- The ability to work independently and make progress without constant direction or supervision.
- A solutions-oriented mindset. We value people who investigate problems, think through possible solutions, and bring recommendations rather than simply identifying an issue.
- Comfort using AI and other technology as productivity tools while maintaining appropriate human review and judgment.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills. QuickBooks Online experience is helpful but not required.
- Familiarity with quoting for state, local government, and education (SLED) customers and/or government contracts is a plus, but extensive experience is not required.
- Must be physically located in the U.S.
