Staff Software Engineer, Consumer Payments (Growth)

Role Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer (Technical Lead) for Consumer Payments in Singapore, you will serve as a versatile technical anchor driving the evolution of Google’s payment capabilities. You will provide technical direction, architect solutions, and make contributions across multiple domains and markets.

What You Will Do

Define and drive the technical strategy across multiple areas within consumer payments, write scalable, maintainable code and design architecture for critical system components, and partner with Directors, PMs, UX, and TPMs to drive consensus and align technical strategies across markets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8 years of experience programming in Java, Go, C++, Python, or equivalent codebases
• 8 years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable backend distributed systems, microservices architectures, or high-throughput APIs
• 6 years of experience leading the end-to-end strategy, execution, and launch of multi-quarter software engineering projects
• 6 years of experience with software architecture, driving technical consensus among globally distributed stakeholders
