Senior Data Platform Engineer

Moderna is strengthening its international business services hub in Warsaw, Poland. As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing Moderna’s data platform capabilities, enabling scalable, secure, and governed data access across the organization. The role is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud and data technologies while contributing to a platform that accelerates innovation, including the adoption of Generative AI-driven data solutions.

Requirements

• Design, implement, and scale robust data services on AWS using technologies such as Glue, Redshift, Iceberg, Lambda, EMR, Step Functions, and Apache Airflow
• Build and enhance platform capabilities including self-service data ingestion APIs, metadata governance frameworks, and secure data sharing patterns
• Develop infrastructure-as-code modules and support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure reliable deployments
• Contribute to architectural design discussions, shaping technical decisions and ensuring alignment with Moderna’s broader data platform strategy
• Partner closely with Product Managers to gather data requirements, understand business priorities, and translate them into scalable technical specifications
• Collaborate with data scientists and domain engineers to enable governed, self-service data management capabilities across the enterprise
• Perform code reviews, uphold engineering best practices, and contribute to documentation and team knowledge-sharing initiatives
• Drive platform maturity by continuously improving scalability, reliability, and usability of data platform services
