About the Role
1-Group is looking for a highly organised and hands-on Assistant Events Manager / Operations Supervisor to support the planning and execution of events while overseeing on-ground banquet operations.
This role combines event coordination, client servicing and operational supervision, ensuring that every event is planned effectively and delivered seamlessly. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of banquet operations, excellent attention to detail and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
Events Management
- Assist in planning and coordinating the end-to-end execution of banquets, weddings, corporate events, private functions and other events.
- Coordinate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand event requirements and ensure all details are accurately communicated.
- Prepare and review event briefs, function sheets, floor plans, event timelines and operational requirements.
- Coordinate with the kitchen, service, bar and other relevant departments to ensure all event requirements are aligned.
- Assist with event planning, setup, execution and teardown.
- Ensure event timelines, programme schedules and service requirements are followed accordingly.
- Attend to clients and event organisers during events and act as a key point of contact for operational matters.
- Anticipate potential issues and take proactive action to ensure smooth event execution.
Banquet Operations
- Supervise the day-to-day banquet and event operations to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Lead the setup and preparation of function rooms, dining areas, service stations and other event spaces.
- Conduct pre-event briefings and communicate event requirements, service standards and operational instructions to the team.
- Supervise service flow during events and ensure food and beverage service is delivered according to the agreed programme and standards.
- Coordinate closely with the culinary team to ensure proper food timing, service flow and presentation.
- Monitor the readiness, cleanliness and presentation of event spaces throughout the event.
- Oversee event breakdown and ensure all equipment and operational areas are properly cleared and maintained.
- Identify and resolve operational issues promptly during events.
Team Supervision
- Supervise and guide service crew, banquet staff and part-time team members during events.
- Allocate manpower and assign duties according to event requirements.
- Brief and coach team members on service standards, event procedures and guest expectations.
- Monitor team performance and provide guidance to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Foster effective communication and teamwork between Events, Operations, Kitchen and other departments.
Guest Experience
- Deliver a high standard of service and ensure guests receive a seamless and memorable event experience.
- Attend to guest feedback, requests and service recovery matters during events.
- Work closely with the Events team to ensure client expectations are met throughout the event.
- Conduct post-event reviews and identify areas for improvement.
Operational & Administrative Support
- Assist with manpower planning and deployment based on event requirements.
- Monitor operational equipment, supplies and inventory required for events.
- Ensure operational procedures, food safety, workplace safety and company standards are adhered to.
- Assist with event costing, operational planning and other administrative duties where required.
- Prepare post-event reports and provide feedback on operational performance.
- Support the Events Manager and Operations team with other projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Hospitality, Hotel Management, Events Management or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in banquet, events, hospitality or F&B operations.
- Prior experience in banquet or event execution is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of banquet service and event operations.
- Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Confident in coordinating with clients, vendors and internal departments.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Hands-on, proactive and service-oriented.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working shifts, weekends and public holidays based on event requirements.
