Our client is a well-established precision engineering and advanced manufacturing company specializing in high-precision tooling solutions for the semiconductor and electronics industries. Due to their current expansion plan, they are looking for a Precision EDM (Sinker) Machinist / Grinding Machinist to join their team. They are located in the North – easily accessible.
1 Year Renewable Contract
Working time: 5 Days | Mon – Fri 8am-5.30pm (10am / 3pm – 15mins break, 12.15pm-1pm lunch)
Salary range : $3,200 max + OT (10-15hrs weekly) + Contract Bonus (1-2months after completed 1 yr)
Min. ±0.005mm tolerence
ROLE 1: Precision EDM (Sinker) Machinist
Responsibilities:
- Set up, program, and operate EDM sinker machines for precision machining of tooling, mold cavities, and insert components.
- Perform EDM machining on complex mold features, pocket geometries, and precision tooling components according to engineering specifications.
- Prepare, inspect, and manage electrodes to ensure machining accuracy and repeatability.
- Optimize machining parameters and EDM processes to achieve required dimensional tolerances and surface finish standards.
- Configure and monitor automated machining sequences for efficient production operations.
- Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments and verify compliance with technical drawings.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and 3D CAD data for machining and inspection activities.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment operates at optimal condition.
Requirements:

NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, or a related discipline.

Minimum 3 years of experience in high-precision mold chase fabrication, plastic injection mold making, or precision tooling environments.

Hands-on experience in programming and operating EDM sinker machines, preferably Sodick (AG/AL Series), GF AgieCharmilles (FORM Series), or equivalent equipment.

Able to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D CAD files (STEP/IGES), work to tolerances of ±0.005mm, and utilize precision workholding and inspection systems.
ROLE 2: Precision Grinding Machinist
Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC and NC grinding machines to achieve precision dimensional and surface finish requirements.

Perform surface, profile, and step grinding on precision tooling and hardened steel components.

Conduct machine setup, workpiece alignment, and workholding preparation to ensure dimensional accuracy.

Select and maintain suitable grinding wheels based on material specifications and finishing requirements.

Monitor machining parameters and coolant conditions to ensure product quality and prevent material distortion.

Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments and verify compliance with engineering drawings.

Support tooling improvement, troubleshooting, and continuous process optimization activities.

Maintain equipment, tooling records, and comply with workplace safety procedures.
Requirements:

NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent in Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.

3–5 years of experience operating NC/CNC grinding machines in tooling, Mold Chase, or precision mold manufacturing.

Experience in CNC grinding of complex molds/inserts, hardened tool steels, and surface finishing processes.

Able to read mold drawings, maintain ±0.002mm tolerances, and use precision measuring instruments.
