VP, Business Development – Healthcare Organizations
Full-Time • Remote (US East Coast Hours) • Reports to Chief Commercial Officer
About Fluence
Fluence is a leading educator and platform provider for clinicians working in the emerging field of psychedelic-assisted therapy. We develop evidence-based training programs and proprietary software platforms — Fluence Sync and Sessions — that are validated for clinical trials use and deployed by healthcare organizations, clinical research organizations (CROs), and drug developers across the United States.
Our B2B partnerships are central to our growth. Drug developers, CROs, and healthcare organizations engage us to design and deliver clinician training programs, administer protocol-specific education through our platforms, and support their regulatory and clinical operations goals. These are complex, high-stakes relationships, and the deals that underpin them reflect that complexity.
About the Role
Fluence is seeking a VP of Business Development to own growth across our Healthcare Organizations customer group, including group practices and clinics, health systems, academic and institutional providers, and benefits and insurance organizations.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end sales role. You will turn inbound interest into opportunities, build targeted outbound activity, develop relationships with prospective clients, and move opportunities from first conversation through proposal, negotiation, and close.
You will work closely with the CEO and CCO to build a strong, repeatable pipeline for Fluence’s organizational solutions, including group and custom training, workforce readiness and competency programs, and Fluence Sync.
What You’ll Do
- Own the Healthcare Organizations deal pipeline.
- Respond to and qualify opportunities and ensure consistent follow-up.
- Build and execute targeted outbound efforts to priority accounts and decision-makers.
- Develop relationships, understand organizational needs, and shape the right Fluence solution.
- Lead sales conversations, proposals, pricing, negotiations, and contracting through signed agreements.
- Partner closely with Marketing on target accounts, campaigns, events, lead generation, and sales enablement.
- Work with the CEO on strategic opportunities, partnerships, and major deals.
- Identify expansion opportunities within existing organizational accounts.
- Maintain pipeline discipline, forecasting, and CRM visibility, and build a repeatable sales process as Fluence scales.
- Ensure a smooth handoff of closed business to the teams responsible for implementation and delivery.
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of B2B business development or enterprise sales experience, ideally in healthcare, life sciences, healthcare education/training, or related markets.
- Demonstrated ability to generate, nurture, and close complex B2B opportunities.
- Experience selling to healthcare organizations and navigating multiple stakeholders and longer sales cycles is required.
- Strong outbound prospecting and relationship-development skills, not simply inbound sales experience.
- Commercially strong and comfortable with proposals, pricing, negotiation, and contracts.
- Highly proactive and persistent, with strong follow-through and pipeline discipline.
- Comfortable operating hands-on in a growing, founder-led organization and building process as you go.
Engagement Structure & Location
This is a remote position. US East Coast working hours are required. Candidates should expect to travel to New York City approximately once per quarter for team meetings, and periodically for client meetings as deals require.
Benefits
• Company-sponsored health plan.
• 401(k) with company match.
• Equity plan — participation and terms to be discussed during the offer process.
