Marketing Manager

On Site Full TimeSan Diego, United StatesRealSimGear Inc

RealSimGear is a San Diego-based designer and manufacturer of advanced flight simulation components and systems. We believe flying is safer when pilots practice more and develop true mastery of their skills, their procedures and the airplane, and that everyone can benefit from great flight simulation. We design, build, ship and support the most elegant, most reliable simulators available, both for the home and for commercial operators. Everyone on the RealSimGear team plays a part in that mission.

We're looking for a Marketing Manager with a real passion for aviation. You might have worked in aircraft sales, at a flight school, an FBO, a charter or maintenance operation, in avionics, or elsewhere in the industry. If you want to put that knowledge to work at a fast-growing technology company, this role is for you. You'll own how RealSimGear presents itself to the world: our campaigns, website, product imagery and presence at industry events. You'll report directly to the CEO, work alongside a small existing team, and market a range of high-tech products that are always evolving. We care more about aviation knowledge and drive than about a perfect marketing resume. If you know this industry and you have good instincts, we will teach you the rest.

What you'll do

  • Own the marketing function and deliver qualified leads to our sales team.
  • Plan and run campaigns across email, social media, paid advertising and the website.
  • Manage paid advertising budgets and track and report on what's working.
  • Write and produce content for an audience that knows aviation, including product pages, articles, customer stories and email campaigns.
  • Produce our product and lifestyle imagery, building the photo library that feeds the website, campaigns and sales material.
  • Run our presence at trade shows and industry events: planning and logistics, conversations on the stand, and the follow-up afterwards.
  • Keep the website current as products, pricing and specifications change.
  • Build relationships with flight schools, training organizations, aircraft owners and the wider pilot community.

Required qualifications

  • Experience working in aviation, such as aircraft sales, flight training, FBO or airport operations, charter, avionics, maintenance or aviation media. This is essential, because the people you'll be talking to are pilots and flight schools.
  • Experience with marketing activity of some kind, and the appetite to get hands-on across email, social media, paid advertising and the website.
  • The ability to write clearly and accurately for a knowledgeable audience.
  • Confidence representing a company in person, whether at a trade show or on the phone.
  • Comfort maintaining website content and picking up new software tools.
  • You're organized and self-directed, and you follow things through.
  • You're based in San Diego or willing to relocate, since this role is on-site.
  • You're willing to travel for industry events and customer visits.

Required qualifications

  • A pilot certificate, progress toward one as a student pilot, or a flight instructor rating.
  • Hands-on experience running email, social and paid advertising campaigns, and measuring the results.
  • Hands-on experience with flight simulators or training devices.
  • Experience with HubSpot, Klaviyo, Shopify or similar CRM, email and e-commerce platforms.
  • Photography and video editing skills, including product and lifestyle work.
  • Experience marketing or selling technical products to a technical audience.
  • Familiarity with how flight schools and training organizations buy and approve equipment.

Why RealSimGear

RealSimGear was built by people who care about aviation and about doing the work properly. We value responsiveness, precision, follow-through, and looking after customers long after the sale. Our head office is directly across from Montgomery Field in San Diego, and we encourage time for flying and flight training.

  • Base salary of $85,000 to $120,000, depending on experience
  • Excellent medical, dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k) plan
  • Generous PTO

This is a role where your work shows up directly, in the pilots and training organizations who fly better because of what we build, and in the growth of the company.

RealSimGear is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to an inclusive environment for all employees. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability, or any other legally protected characteristic.
