Location: Myrtle Beach, SC or 100% Remote

Employment: Full-Time

We are partnering with a rapidly growing, fee-only fiduciary Registered Investment Advisory firm managing approximately $350 million in assets to identify an experienced Director of Financial Planning.

This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned CFP® professional who wants to do more than manage client relationships. Our client is seeking someone who can build, implement, and lead a standardized financial planning process across an expanding advisory team.

The firm has experienced significant organic growth, generates a substantial number of inbound prospective clients through its established marketing platform, and is positioning itself for continued expansion.

There is no prospecting, cold calling, or requirement to bring a book of business.

The Opportunity

The Director of Financial Planning will report directly to the CEO and play a central role in shaping the firm’s future.

This individual will maintain their own relationships with up to 60 affluent client households while also developing the infrastructure, processes, and advisor training programs necessary to support the firm’s continued growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build and implement a firm-wide financial planning process that establishes consistent standards, methodologies, deliverables, and expectations across the advisory team.
  • Develop a structured onboarding and training program to prepare new financial advisors to operate independently.
  • Establish quality-control standards and review financial plans to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Mentor, coach, and eventually lead a growing team of financial advisors.
  • Serve as lead advisor for up to 60 client households, primarily pre-retirees, retirees, and business owners.
  • Provide comprehensive retirement income, tax, estate, investment, and Social Security planning.
  • Partner with leadership on advisor capacity planning, recruiting, and long-term team development.

What We’re Looking For

A critical requirement for this position is previous experience building or significantly improving a financial planning process that other advisors have adopted and followed.

We are not simply looking for someone who has spent years preparing financial plans. The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to translate their planning expertise into a repeatable, documented process that can be implemented across an advisory team.

Additional qualifications include:

  • CFP® certification required.
  • 7+ years of client-facing financial planning experience, preferably with an independent RIA.
  • Proven experience developing financial planning processes, training advisors, or leading a planning team.
  • Strong technical expertise in retirement income and tax planning, including Roth conversions, RMDs, IRMAA, and Social Security.
  • Experience advising high-net-worth clients.
  • Advanced experience with eMoney, RightCapital, or MoneyGuide.
  • Series 65 or ability to obtain it before starting.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Previous experience managing financial advisors, building onboarding programs, or helping scale a growing RIA is highly desirable.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation including base salary and performance bonus.
  • 401(k) and cash balance retirement plan.
  • Health insurance and paid time off.
  • Continuing education and professional development support.
  • Opportunity to work 100% remotely or from the firm’s Myrtle Beach, SC office.
  • Defined career path toward partnership.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a successful, growing independent RIA where leadership genuinely values financial planning.

The firm has a strong inbound marketing engine, an established affluent client base, and ambitious plans for continued expansion.

Most importantly, this position offers the opportunity to build the planning department, influence how the firm delivers advice, develop future advisors, and potentially become a partner in the business.

If you’re an experienced CFP® who has successfully built financial planning processes and enjoys developing other advisors, we’d welcome a confidential conversation.
