Role Overview

Support the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by providing surveillance data management, data quality assurance, reporting, and analytics support. The successful candidate will support CDC’s public health surveillance activities through effective management, modernization, validation, and dissemination of surveillance data while ensuring compliance with CDC scientific and data quality standards.

What You Will Do

Assist in assessing business needs and user requirements for data and information systems, evaluate and support the implementation of computational infrastructures, security practices, analytics tools, and information technology solutions, apply data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, visualization, cloud-based, and analytical tools to derive insights from complex datasets, and provide analytical support for data science initiatives, modernization efforts, and emerging projects.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Informatics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting data analytics, data science, healthcare analytics, public health informatics, or related activities
  • Demonstrated experience using SQL for data extraction, transformation, validation, and management
  • Experience using SAS, Python, and/or R for data analysis and surveillance data processing
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting public health, healthcare, surveillance, or population-based datasets
  • Experience developing data quality assurance procedures and conducting data validation reviews
  • Experience in creating dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools
  • Strong experience working with large, structured datasets and relational databases
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
