People Operations & Compliance Manager

Role Overview

The People Operations & Compliance Manager is a hybrid position based in Austin, TX that reports to the Chief People Officer. The role is responsible for maintaining compliant, efficient, and employee-friendly HR operations across the organization. This includes ensuring the company meets all applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements while also owning core people operations processes, systems, and documentation.

What You Will Do

The People Operations & Compliance Manager is responsible for HR Compliance & Policy Management, People Operations, Benefits, Payroll & Cross-Functional Support, and Safety, Accommodations & Multi-State Compliance. This includes maintaining and updating HR policies, handbooks, and procedures, monitoring federal, state, and local employment compliance requirements, and owning HR compliance audits, documentation reviews, and corrective action tracking.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in HR operations, HR compliance, people operations, or a generalist role with strong compliance ownership
• 3+ years experience managing HR policies, handbooks, audits, and employee records
• 3+ years experience with HRIS platforms, reporting, and process documentation
• Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law and HR compliance requirements
• Multi-state compliance experience
• Comfort working independently and building processes from scratch
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with high attention to detail and confidentiality
