Data Scientist

Role Overview

Geotab is a global leader in IoT and connected transportation. The Data Scientist will assist in designing and constructing Geotab’s data mining and model building processes from vast amounts of raw data.

What You Will Do

The Data Scientist will analyze trends to make improved decision-making in producing effective customer-facing products, design and construct Geotab’s data modeling processes, and create algorithms and predictive models to extract information required to solve complex business problems.

Requirements

• 1-5 years experience as a Data Scientist or a similar role
• Post-secondary Degree/Diploma with specialization in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
• Thorough knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL, C++) and object-oriented programming
• Thorough knowledge of Big Data tools and Data Mining/Warehousing Programs (e.g. Google BigQuery), along with experience in machine learning techniques (e.g. Scikit-learn, Tensorflow)
• Comfortable integrating diverse AI models and productivity tools to accelerate project deliverables
• Understanding of machine learning and operations research, with experience using/building business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks
• Technical competence using software programs, including Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides); experience in a high-technology industry is an asset
• Strong analytical, organizational, and team-player skills with high attention to detail and an entrepreneurial mindset
