Founding Data Engineer

Role Overview

Snout is a fast-growing wellness plan provider in the veterinary space, and this role is to build the data foundation for the company. The data engineer will inherit a real system but make it firm, documented, and trustworthy. The role involves understanding the data landscape, reconciling data from multiple source systems, and owning the ingestion pipelines and warehouse rebuild.

What You Will Do

The data engineer will map the data landscape, reconcile data, own and extend the warehouse, and keep clean, well-modeled data flowing to the tools that consume it. They will also run early discovery with stakeholders, present options, and execute on the chosen path.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of experience building and maintaining production data systems, deep SQL and PostgreSQL experience, strong dbt and dimensional modeling experience, and a track record of taming large, messy datasets.

Requirements

• 6+ years building and maintaining production data systems as a data or analytics engineer
• Deep SQL and hands-on PostgreSQL experience
• Strong dbt and dimensional/data-modeling experience in production
• A track record of taming large, messy datasets from multiple source systems
• A pragmatist’s bias toward simplicity
• Strong communication
