As part of our expansion strategy, we have established a service company in Singapore to support market research, data collection, market analysis, and strategic market intelligence activities across Asia.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Market Intelligence Actuary to grow our understanding of life insurance and reinsurance markets in Asia. The role is focused on market intelligence, data analysis, benchmarking activities, relationship management, and analytical support.

You will work closely with colleagues from Helvetia’s Swiss Head Office, including underwriting, actuarial, and capabilities development teams, by providing regional insights and market intelligence.

Any underwriting, pricing, contractual discussions, negotiations, transaction execution, or reinsurance business decisions will remain outside the scope of this role and will be handled by the appropriate licensed or authorised entities, where permitted.

Your responsibilities

• Conduct market research and collect, analyse, and report on market, regulatory, industry, product, and competitor information relevant to the life insurance and reinsurance sectors, with a primary focus on Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, and selected other Asian markets.
• Monitor market developments, competitive dynamics, regulatory trends, and industry practices to identify areas of strategic relevance and support Helvetia’s understanding of regional life insurance and reinsurance markets.
• Provide actuarial and technical expertise to support internal benchmarking activities, including the analysis of market practices, product features, underwriting approaches, pricing considerations, claims trends, and competitor developments.
• Contribute to the further development of Helvetia’s products, capabilities, and new regional initiatives by providing internal teams with market intelligence, benchmarking insights, technical analysis, and actuarial observations.
• Prepare market studies, analytical reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations to support strategic planning and market evaluation activities.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with insurers, consultants, brokers, industry bodies, and other market participants strictly for the purpose of gathering market intelligence, monitoring market developments, and supporting research activities.
• Represent Helvetia APAC at industry events, conferences, and professional forums, strictly within the permitted scope of market research, data collection, technical analysis, and general market intelligence.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Switzerland by sharing factual market intelligence, regulatory observations, benchmarking insights, and analytical input, without engaging in transaction-related discussions or activities from Singapore.
• Provide regular updates to the Head of Life Reinsurance, including market insights, technical observations, regulatory developments, and confirmation of adherence to applicable compliance requirements.

Your qualifications

• Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related field. Actuarial qualification, or progress towards one, is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in life insurance, reinsurance, or actuarial consulting.
• Strong understanding of life insurance products, underwriting, pricing principles, and reinsurance concepts.
• Experience in market research, data analysis, and strategic market intelligence.
• Ability to monitor market, regulatory, and competitive developments and translate them into clear strategic insights.
• Good knowledge of regional insurance markets and regulatory frameworks, including awareness of Singapore regulatory requirements.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage professionally while respecting regulatory boundaries.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to work independently, remotely, and in alignment with a global strategy.
• Proficiency with digital collaboration tools, including Microsoft Teams.
• Fluency in English. Additional Asian languages would be an advantage.
