Job title: Senior Business Development Executive

PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Asia Pacific Division has an opening for a Senior Business Development Executive, based in the Singapore office.
To support continued business growth across Asia, our client is looking for a highly motivated and driven individual to join their Business Development team. Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, you’ll have a direct impact on the company’s top line and the opportunity to build long-term client relationships — a genuine differentiator for the business.
In this role, you’ll sell directly to prospective clients, as well as work in conjunction with brokers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieving new business objectives as set by the Regional Sales Manager
- Developing strategy and completing call plans and reports to keep prospect information and documentation up to date in the Strategic Relationship System (SRS)
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with prospective clients and brokers to generate a continuous pipeline of new business opportunities
- Managing new business opportunities through ongoing prospect development
- Staying actively involved in the local insurance and brokerage community, participating in meetings, conferences and industry events
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of competitors’ products, services, pricing strategy and practices
DAY-TO-DAY
- Selling directly to prospective clients, as well as working alongside brokers
- Prospecting, nurturing and following up on new business opportunities through to negotiation and close
- Keeping on top of market and competitor activity across the region
- Representing the business at industry meetings, conferences and events
EXPERIENCE
- At least 10 years’ experience in risk management, loss prevention engineering, claims or underwriting
- Experience in the broader insurance industry is desired but not essential
- Proven sales experience is a plus, with knowledge of the sales process from prospecting through to closing
- A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Desirable)
SKILLS
- Ability to build strong, lasting relationships with clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including facilitation and presentation
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
- Technology and social media savvy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
