The Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to grow and strengthen our presence within the insurance broking channel.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing strategic relationships with insurance brokers, identifying new business opportunities, and driving profitable growth across the commercial insurance portfolio. You will work closely with brokers, underwriting teams and internal stakeholders to develop solutions that meet clients’ evolving insurance needs.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong relationships within the Singapore general insurance market who enjoys building partnerships and developing new business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies to grow revenue and market share through the insurance broking channel.
- Build, maintain and deepen relationships with key insurance brokers and intermediaries across Singapore.
- Identify new business opportunities through existing broker relationships as well as new broker partnerships.
- Manage and develop a portfolio of broker accounts, ensuring consistent engagement and sustainable business growth.
- Understand brokers’ portfolios, client segments and business priorities to identify potential insurance opportunities.
- Work closely with underwriting teams to develop competitive and commercially viable solutions for brokers and their clients.
- Drive new business submissions, renewals, cross-selling opportunities and overall portfolio growth.
- Conduct regular broker meetings, presentations, engagement activities and business reviews.
- Develop account plans for strategic broker partners and track performance against agreed business objectives.
- Monitor market developments, competitor activity, pricing trends and emerging client needs.
- Represent the company at broker events, industry functions and other relevant networking activities.
- Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and provide regular updates on business development activities and results.
- Ensure all business activities are conducted in accordance with internal governance, compliance and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Degree or professional qualification in Business, Insurance, Finance or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience within general insurance, commercial insurance, insurance broking or business development.
- Strong understanding of the Singapore insurance and broking landscape.
- Existing relationships within the insurance broker community would be highly advantageous.
- Proven ability to develop relationships and generate new business opportunities.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to understand underwriting considerations and portfolio profitability.
- Confident communicator with strong presentation, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Self-driven and comfortable managing multiple broker relationships and opportunities simultaneously.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively with underwriting, operations and other internal teams.
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate is likely to be someone who is well connected within the commercial insurance broking market and understands how to turn strong broker relationships into sustainable business opportunities.
You should be comfortable engaging senior stakeholders, opening new doors and working alongside underwriters to convert opportunities while maintaining a strong focus on portfolio quality and long-term profitability.
