Lead Data Scientist

Role Overview

As a Lead Data Scientist at MoEngage, you will be responsible for designing and owning the end-to-end technical vision for our next-generation marketing platform. You will lead the research, design, and implementation of novel models that combine predictive signals with generative capabilities. You will also establish and champion best practices across the full modeling stack.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include architecting, building, and deploying large-scale recommender systems, solving core recommendation challenges, and developing and implementing rigorous offline and online evaluation frameworks. You will also lead the development of LLM-powered features and spearhead efforts in fine-tuning and adapting pre-trained LLMs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning models in a business environment
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and its data science libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, XGBoost, spark)
• Advanced proficiency in SQL for querying large and complex datasets
• 2+ years of demonstrated, hands-on experience developing and deploying solutions using Large Language Models (e.g., fine-tuning, RAG, prompt engineering)
• Proven track record of leading complex, end-to-end data science projects that have delivered significant business impact
