The Governor’s Summer Intern – SPD – Business Intelligence position is a seasonal internship that provides hands-on experience in data analysis, visualization design, and public-sector problem solving. Interns will assist in developing impactful Tableau dashboards and data visualizations, while contributing to meaningful projects that serve the Hoosier community.
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.
- Visual and artistic creative skills
- Experience manipulating very large datasets
- Experience or knowledge of one or more BI platforms (ex, Tableau, Power BI)
- Basic understanding of relational and dimensional databases and data warehousing structures, theories, principles, and practices
- Experience working in government is a plus
- Experience generating public-facing visualizations
- Effective communicator and problem solver
- Basic analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong written/oral communication and presentation/interpersonal skills
- Resourceful self-starter and highly motivated team player
- SQL coding and troubleshooting skills are a plus
- Beginner experience with data modeling, database design, and query performance tuning and optimization
- Basic understanding of relational and dimensional databases and data warehousing structures, theories, principles, and practices
- Experience using Tableau preferred (Tableau certifications a plus)
