Role Overview
The Tax Policy & Data Analytics Division is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating existing and proposed policies and legislation that affect the Department of Finance and New York City. This includes analyzing the revenue and distributional impacts of proposed changes to the tax system, monitoring and reporting on tax and parking revenues, and advising the commissioner, Executive Office, and the New York City Office of Management and Budget on revenue and budgetary issues.
What You Will Do
The selected candidates will assist in conducting complex policy impact analysis, maintaining the integrity of all property and owner-related data within the Department of Finance’s Property Tax System, and developing statistical and research strategies for various projects.

Requirements
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social science, economics, statistics, computer science, data analysis, geography, sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), or a closely related field, with at least 12 credits or five courses in economics, public policy, econometrics, statistics, mathematics, engineering, geography or computer science.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university as described above and two years of full-time, professional experience performing statistical analysis and programming work in any of the areas described above.
- At least one year full-time work experience in a related field, or a master’s degree from an accredited college or university, in the areas described above, with at least 12 credits or three advanced courses in economics, public policy, econometrics, statistics, mathematics, engineering, geography, or computer science.
- Three years full-time work experience in a related field, or a Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university, in the areas described above, with at least 12 credits or three advanced courses in economics, public policy, econometrics, statistics, mathematics, engineering, geography, or computer science.
